Meet Our Chefs

Chef Lalo Gonzalez 

Chef Lalo Gonzalez brings traditional sazón (flavors) to his cooking. Since he was a child, Chef Lalo always had a passion for cooking, he started making tortillas and preparing his own food during the day while his parents worked. At the age of seventeen, Chef Lalo migrated to California where his journey in the culinary and restaurant world began. He worked his way from a dishwasher to kitchen staff, learning the fundamentals of French and Italian cuisine. With years of experience under his belt, Chef Lalo is now leads the El Epazote kitchen where his creations  showcase the flavors and ingredients of his culture. Chef Lalo honors his roots while also elevating traditional cooking with locally grown produce found in the California Valley. 

Chef Pedro Cipriano

Chef Pedro Cipriano Ambrosio, migrated to California at the age of sixteen. Prior to that, a young Pedro worked with his father growing corn, beans, squash, sugar cane, and coffee. Chef Pedro also began his journey in the culinary world starting off as a dishwasher and worked his way into different kitchen staff positions. He has years of experience working in Italian and American restaurants. He is also Chef Lalo’s brother-in-law, married for sixteen years to Adelaida Gonzalez. He is excited to begin a new journey working alongside family to create traditional yet unique dishes at El Epazato.
